Solution Focused Brief Therapy with Elderly Residents of Living Facilities

Abstract

|
Existing studies have shown that elderly women in residential facilities feel angry and despairing and experience a decline in health as a result of feeling separated from and abandoned by their family. This study explored the use of Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) in helping elderly residents to improve their adaptation to residential facilities. Six sessions of counseling were offered. Results indicated that SFBT is effective at improving the elderly residents’ adaptation to living facilities.
